Model Horse Questions: Do You Like Tack and Do You Make Any?

Hello, blogging world! Long time, no see! Real life has been hectic, so not much time has been left for too many hobbies, the model horse hobby included.

This question actually gives me a bit of anxiety, or should I say, the thought of attempting to *make* tack or even put it correctly on a model horse is intimidating. Along with lack of skill (and acute fear of failure, haha...), is the lack of funds... Realistic miniature tack is usually as pricey as the real thing!

Despite not currently having a lot of tack in my miniature stable, my friend, fellow blogger, and favorite hobby enabler, Afuze, was kind enough to offer some of her handmade bridles and halters in various trades.

To make a long story short, I DO like tack, it just has to be made by someone else, at least until I get myself in gear and try to make something besides a basic halter.

Below are a few examples of my attempts starting from over 10 years ago!

Many are Schleich pieces, as that is what I mainly focused on prior to even being able to afford any Breyers. You may also notice that felt and cheap (not skived) leather lace was \mostly used, along with grosgrain ribbon in 3mm width. (Psst, there is such a thing as 2mm ribbon for smaller scale horse tack, which took me forever to realize)! :-)

Let's just say... I certainly hope my camera skills have improved over the years, too! XD

This 1:9 scale Breyer halter featured my first attempt at making punched holes and handmade tongue buckles! A hole punch for making small holes was used.

Even through the blurry quality, the infamous strands of hot glue are visible! Super glue is safer and more secure.

In conclusion, yes, tack is nice, but practice and learning new things are as well! (Now watch me go save up for fancier professional made tack.... ;-) )!
